We created this Fundraising Guide to give you some ideas of how you can get involved and help raise money for our blind and disabled clients in Israel.  Each page has an idea for that month. It doesn’t mean you have to follow our suggestion for that month but please do something.

If you need help with an idea or how to get started just call us on 020 8090 3455 or email fundraising@bfigdcb.org

Puppies

JANUARY

Ask your child’s class at school to sponsor a puppy

Did you know that six is the average number of puppies born in each litter?

Sponsor a gorgeous guide dog puppy and watch them grow from a 6-week old bundle of fur to a qualified guide or service dog.

You might also be one of the lucky schools to get an actual guide dog puppy to visit your school!

It’s a great way to support the Israel Guide Dog Centre and watch ‘your’ puppy’s unique journey.

To sponsor a puppy call us on 020 8090 3455 or email at superhero@bfigdcb.org

Cakes

AUGUST

Hold a tea party in your garden and ask people to bring a cake and donate

Some tea party tips:

  1. Pick your date
This one’s great to do straight away, so people can get the date in their diaries and start getting excited!
  2. Send your invitations
If you want, we can create a poster for you and also advertise the event on our social media platforms
  3. Bake or buy?
Most people find they end up with a mixture of homemade creations and shop-bought treats. Is your mother-in-law’s carrot cake famous for miles around, or are your nephew’s brownies the talk of the town? Ask them to bring their showstopper to the party!
  4. Make the most from your creations
If anyone bakes something truly stupendous, you could raffle or auction it! Ask your local bakeries or shops if they’ll donate goodies? You’ll be surprised by how generous people can be to support a great cause!
  5. Buy or donate?
Ask people to buy cakes on the day or just make a donation to the charity.

Menorah

DECEMBER

Host a Chanukah party and sponsor a puppy!

Chanukah is one of the most beautiful festivals, with the warm glow of the candles increasing every night, reflecting off the happy faces of young and old.

But what if you could not see the candles or the smiles of your friends and family? What if, instead of a Festival of Lights, every day is steeped in darkness?

Blindness and visual impairment affect some 23,000 Israelis. Some are blind from birth, some lose their sight gradually or as a result of trauma, such as an accident or while serving in the military, or as a victim of a terrorist attack.

Every story, every life is different, but each and every blind person aspires to reach their full potential, to be a spouse, a parent, or a child of whom their parents can be proud – and to contribute to their communities and to wider society.

The gift of a guide dog is one of the most important tools in helping them realise their dreams, and you can help give that gift this Chanukah.
